Monte Carlo Night Donations

A letter was sent home today regarding donations for the raffle baskets and silent auction. Please ask your child for it. We need each 8th grade family to please try to obtain at least one major basket item.

I have been asked by a few what Monte Carlo Night is like; so for those who are unfamiliar with the event here are some more details.

We hire a group to bring their gaming tables -- black jack, roulette and craps. Our guests play for chips which are turned in for raffle tickets. You can then browse the baskets and enter your tickets into the raffle for the baskets of your choosing. A few baskets are raffled every 15 minutes or so throughout the entire night. Everyone loves winning so winning a basket is quite a thrill. The more baskets the better. We hold a silent auction also, with the opportunity to bid on and buy some of the bigger prizes. Past offerings include Disneyland tickets, Dodger tickets, jewelry and surf boards. A few local restaurants come and offer a "taste" of their delicious foods and desserts (this is not a sit down dinner). Past food "tastes" have included sushi, pasta, hot wings and salads to name a few. A no-host bar is open all night with mixed drinks, beer, wine and soft drinks. As mentioned earlier, this year we will also be introducing HORSERACING, with the opportunity to "own", jockey and bet on the horses. It's a fun night of games, socializing, good food and drinks. Make plans to attend and bring your friends. Tickets will be on sale after the New Year.

Monte Carlo Night Introduces Horseracing

This year the committee has decided to introduce horseracing to the Monte Carlo Night gaming. Our guests will have the opportunity to bet on their favorite horses and even go on stage and "jockey" a horse if they chose. The inter-action promises to bring laughs to everyone. All 8th grade families are invited to become the very first proud owners of these racehorses. For $35.00 you will be given a plain, wooden stick horse which you will be able to name, and decorate however you choose. The horse will be used the night of the event in one of the races and will be returned to you after Monte Carlo Night. We have a limit of 60 horses so this will be on a first come, first serve basis. Send a check made out to HTPA to school marked "Monte Carlo Night Horserace". 8th Grade families have the first opportunity to buy a horse so get your check in before we go on Christmas break. The racehorses will be available to the rest of the school in the next communicator. Your $35.00 ownership fee includes 2 drink tickets at the event and 1 ticket for a raffle basket that only horse owners can enter. You will have a 1 in 60 chance of winning a great prize.
Ready, Set, Go get your checks in for your very own racehorse!!!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

My personal thanks to all the 8th grade families who helped out with the Pancake Breakfast. Not only was it a HUGE financial success, but the turnout for help was so big that we actually turned away some helpers!! Please know that your help and support are all very much appreciated!

Now we're onto Monte Carlo Night...more details this week!
